Inside Mallorca’s Best Steak Spot
If you’re heading to Mallorca this summer, file this one straight into your itinerary, especially if you’re into seriously good steak. Ses Coves is tucked away in the mountains, a little out of the way, but worth the drive if you’re not staying local! We landed and drove straight from the airport (35mins north) to lunch, honestly the best way to start a holiday!
It’s a family run spot with a real farm to table approach. Everything is centred around high quality produce, from standout cuts of meat to fresh fish and whatever else is best that day. There’s no menu online, not even a sample because everything is completely seasonal and dictated by what’s at its peak! The steak is cooked over a wood fired grill, and if you ask, you can even step through to the outdoor kitchen and watch the chef’s at work!
We started with smoked butter and warm bread, the best bread and butter we’ve ever had! From there, we ordered a lobster croquette each, followed by a portion of lobster served with fried egg and tomato relish. You’re told to chop it all up and mix it together in the bowl before eating, sounds gross, but it works. Then, the main event: a bone in ribeye. Buttery, rich, perfectly cooked, and genuinely the best steak we have ever had. Their signature almond cake came last and honestly we did not want it to end!
It’s the perfect setting, unbelievable food and the best way to start a holiday. We will say though it’s a tough reservation to score so be sure to book as early as possible! Also worth noting the steak and fish are priced by the gram, which can push the bill up pretty quickly, but in our opinion, it’s worth it.
