What To Wear Instead Of A Trench Coat This Spring
There’s something about spring and the beige trench coat that is just too predictable. Everyone has one, which means most wardrobes are starting to look the same. So, we’ve pulled together our favourite trench alternatives to shop this season. Jackets that feel fresh, modern, and way more interesting!
SUEDE JACKET
Of course we had to start with a suede jacket. With so many tan styles everywhere right now, this raspberry shade feels like a refresh. And paired with the matching suede pants? So good. This one is 100% suede, but if you’re shopping faux, make sure it doesn’t look flimsy. Cheap versions tend to be too shiny, too flat, and way too lightweight.
VINTAGE SUEDE JACKET
Vintage suede just hits differently than anything off the high street. It has character, it feels lived-in, and it comes with a story. The silhouettes are usually more interesting too. While it’s always best to hunt these down in vintage stores in person, we did manage to find this one on Vinted and instantly fell in love. We’re suckers for some fringing!
DENIM JACKET
We’ll be the first to admit it, we’re not huge fans of the classic denim jacket. It can feel a little flat and again, predictable. But this version, with its funnel neck and elasticated waist, feels instantly more modern and way cooler.
BLAZER
Nothing beats a blazer, but the fit and fabric have to be right. Too big and too lightweight, and it can start to look cheap. The slightly boxy shape of this Mango Outlet blazer feels refreshing.
CARDIGAN
It might feel a little weighty for spring, but we have to remember the UK spring weather and a cardigan works perfectly. You’ll get wear out of it now and later in the year. The colour mix is so good, and the large collar makes such a statement.
UTILITY JACKET
A utility jacket is a great wardrobe staple. The cinched waist on this one adds great shape to a normally boxy shape. It’s perfect for dressing up or dressing down.
SCARF WRAP
Technically not a jacket, but a wrap instantly elevates any outfit when the weather is mild. Wear it solo in spring and summer and layer it up in winter. It’s a great wardrobe addition!
