The High Street: What’s New, Trending & Worth Shopping This Week
The beginning of August always feels a weird time for fashion. Summer pieces fade out, autumn starts to creep through and everyone’s on a completely different timeline. Some are just back from holiday, others haven’t even packed yet. It makes the high street feel a little all over the place. Do you keep shopping for summer, or hold out for what’s next? Personally, I’m done with summer shopping for this year (unless something seriously good pops up in the sales that I know I’ll love next summer). For now, I’m pressing pause and waiting to see what autumn has in store. But in this in between moment, I’ve spotted a few new pieces on the high street that have definitely caught my eye and I couldn’t resist rounding them up.
Ok so technically this isn’t new (it’s last seasons stock), but the price definitely is! I had my eye on this when it was £70 and couldn’t justify it, but I spotted it for half price and couldn’t checkout quick enough!
Free People have gone headfirst into autumn with their July/August Collection which I’m not complaining about! Now that I’m done with summer holidays I’m more than ready to start leaning into those transitional pieces. That said, Anthropologie dropping their Halloween Collection already feels a little premature.
As we all know, Zara drops newness every Monday and Thursday and this week I’ve spotted the first hints of late summer sliding into autumn. The basics are creeping back in (as they always do), and I can sense a new denim collection dropping in a couple of weeks. Not that I’m complaining because jeans and a simple top are basically my uniform. And honestly, can you ever have too much denim? Probably not. Over the next couple of weeks, the shift will be obvious: out with the sleeveless, in with the long sleeves. Although, with the way the UK summer’s been we might not even need them by September!
These Topshop Della mules are firmly on my autumn wishlist. Mules and loafers just hit that perfect smart casual sweet spot because right now, I’m not really into trainers (unless it’s a pair of slip on Vans). These come in four colours, and the brighter shades add a pop to the simplest of outfits, but equally the black pair if the perfect everyday shoe.
If you missed out on the Hailey Bieber x GAP collab, don’t worry, I’ve found a very similar alternative for the baggy jeans. The Peggy Jean from Weekday is a great match and comes in six different washes. They do run longer, and the pair shown has a turned up he, but it’s not stitched, so you can adjust the length however you like!
One purchase on my mind are a pair of metal sunglasses. I have been after a metal pair for such a long time now and I am debating between the Massimo pair below or these Ray Ban. So, maybe i’ll order them both to try - will keep you posted!
One major collaboration landing this week !!! (6th August) is the H&M x Wardrobe.NYC drop. If you’re not familiar with Wardrobe.NYC, they’re known for their timeless, minimalist capsule pieces, usually with a pretty high price tag so this collab is a big deal! A way to make the brand way more accessible. It’s a super clean collection, blending tailored and casual staples effortlessly (exactly what they do best). The tank and jeans are definitely top of my hit list.
